Where To Find The Pricing Sanity Checker

The pricing sanity check is not a separate tool or menu item. It is a read-only panel near the bottom of an individual gas safety check’s detail page. It appears once a quote has been attached to that check (and the field-quotes layout is in place), and reads only that check’s latest quote. There is no standalone “Pricing Sanity Checker” screen to navigate to.

• Open the check from Gas safety in the sidebar, then scroll to the Quote builder card on the check detail page. The Pricing sanity panel sits under the list of quote drafts.
• The panel only shows when the latest quote has at least one line and Pricing sanity checks is switched on in Settings; checks without a quote do not display it.
• Configure the norms it compares against in Settings, on the Organisation tab, in the Pricing norms card.

What It Does

• Performs a deterministic check on that check’s latest quote figures.
• Compares them against organisation-level pricing norms held in settings. A norm left at zero is simply switched off.
• The norms are Target job margin (%), Expected parts markup (%), Usual minimum labour (£) and Usual minimum job total (£), with a Pricing sanity checks master switch above them.
• The panel summarises Margin, Parts markup and Total for the quote and reads Looks healthy or N to review.
• Always flags two things regardless of your norms: unpriced lines, and parts sold at or below cost.
• Computes the figures server-side, so the warnings reflect the real quote rather than anything typed over them.

Using It Well

Every finding is advisory. The checker never sets a price and never blocks sending. It is a second pair of eyes, not a gate, so you can proceed with the quote whatever it flags.

• Set realistic organisation norms so the check is a useful guardrail, not noise.
• Treat a flag as a prompt to confirm, not a hard block. There is no “mark as intentional” field, so a warning simply stays shown.
• When a figure is a deliberate exception, keep your own internal note of why, since the panel does not capture an override reason.
