How To Use This Glossary

This glossary defines the Manifold and UK gas safety terms used throughout the product and the rest of these docs, so a new starter can look up an unfamiliar word without pulling a colleague away from their own work. Skim it once when you join, then come back to it as a reference whenever another doc page uses a term you do not recognise.

Core Terms

• Client: the landlord, letting agent, or property manager who receives records.
• Property: the address where checks happen, holding an appliance register.
• Appliance: a gas appliance such as a boiler, fire, cooker, or water heater.
• Check: one scheduled gas safety visit to a property.
• Record: the immutable certificate generated from a reviewed check.
• CP12: the Landlord Gas Safety Record, the core domestic certificate.
• AR / ID / NCS: defect categories - At Risk, Immediately Dangerous, Not to Current Standards.
• Compliance status: satisfactory, due soon, overdue, action required, or unknown (no due date set yet, e.g. a property with no first record).
• Renewal: the next-due lifecycle that drives reminders.
• Quote: priced follow-on work built from a check’s defects and parts, sent to the client for a decision and payable by card.
• Sole-trader mode: single-operator mode that auto-assigns checks to the owner.
• Tenant delivery: statutory delivery of a record to the tenant via secure link.
• PlateScan / FlueScan: camera-assisted capture of data plates and analyser readings, always engineer-confirmed.
• PartScan / CodeScan: photo and barcode capture for parts and materials, always engineer-confirmed.
• Van stock: the organisation’s stock list that engineers pick parts from during a check.
• Manifold Assist: AI drafting for notes, explanations, and summaries. It suggests; the engineer or office user decides.
• Ask Manifold: read-only, tenant-scoped natural-language analytics.
